Our Learning Resource Center (LRC) serves as a library for medical and health professionals, caucus members and clinical students. The LRC coordinator is available to assist students and professionals with interlibrary loans, literature searches and provide resource materials

The LRC hours are M-F from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Requests for Material and questions can be directed to Carole Wade at 410-221-2600 or thru e-mail cwade@esahec.org

Books, journals, videos, and audio cassettes in the areas of medicine, allied health, nursing, social work, medical careers and related disciplines are available in the LRC to be used by medical professionals and students. Available to be borrowed are books, journals that are one year old, videos, and cassettes. A listing of books, journals, geriatric videos, health videos, careers videos, and audio cassettes are available by clicking on links to resources.

Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery: [back to top]
The Learning Resource Center has online access to Docline, the National Library of Medicine's online resource for locating medical journal articles, OCLC (Online Computer Library Center), an international database of books, journals and videos, and is a Loansome Doc library. Health professionals, clinical education students, and public librarians may use these services.

Literature Searches [back to top]
The LRC Library Coordinator will conduct literature searches for health professionals and students, or individuals may search the Internet on Pub Med or search available databases on six computers available in the LRC.

Training [back to top]
The LRC sponsors on and offsite training on Pub Med and MEDLINE Plus for health professionals, and public librarians. These workshops are offered twice a year.

Networking [back to top]
The Eastern Shore AHEC is involved in health library organizations. The LRC maintains links with the Eastern Shore Regional Library (www.esrl.lib.md.us), the 9 county public library systems, and 6 regional college libraries on the Shore. The Eastern Shore Consortium of Health Information Providers (ESCHIP) consists of medical, academic, and public libraries from all 9 counties on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The Eastern Shore AHEC is also a member of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NN/LM) Southeastern/Atlantic Region, the Maryland Association of Health Sciences Libraries (MAHSL) and the Maryland Library Association (MLA).

The Eastern Shore AHEC is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. The LRC is a reciprocal library and does not charge for services. Any donations to support our organization will be greatly appreciated and acknowledged for tax purposes.
