Mission:
The mission of the Nursing Caucus shall be to:
Support quality nursing practice by increasing educational access for nurses and promoting community awareness through a focus on rural health issues.
Goals
- Promote communication, interchange and networking for professional nurses on the Eastern Shore.
- Support and facilitate recruitment and retention of nurses in area agencies.
- Encourage and support the attainment of advanced degrees in Nursing.
- Support improvement of health care services through specific education and multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Support Nursing collaboration and research.
- Promote community awareness of nursing, health care issues and services.
- Provide a resource for those interested in the advancement of Nursing, including, but not limited to current and emerging issues, and independent nursing practice.
- Support ongoing programs of continuing education and provide new outlets for technologies, as they become available.
- Identify resources for preceptorships and internships for student clinical experiences in a rural health care setting.
- Maintain liaisons with the Board of Directors, other AHEC caucuses, and task forces within other Nursing-related educational and professional organizations to advocate for improved health care services on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

Members of the Nursing Caucus shall fulfill one of the following qualifications:
1. Hold a current Nursing License and be actively employed within the healthcare system.
2. Each Eastern Shore healthcare organization, nursing education program, and professional nursing organization will be asked to designate a representative

Meetings are held bimonthly on the 2nd Thursday.
