Mission:
The Mission of the Dental Caucus shall be to increase access to quality, comprehensive; prevention oriented oral health care with a focus on underserved segments of the regions population.

Goals

  1. Increase educational opportunities for oral health and allied health professionals in order to enhance the availability and scope of appropriate health care services that may not be readily available in all areas of the region,
  2. Improve the quality of existing oral health care services by facilitating quality, low cost, local professional continuing education,
  3. Provide opportunities for students to participate in a diverse and enriching set of rural practice experiences, while promoting the professional and life style advantages intrinsic to rural practice,
  4. Facilitate student identification of rural practice opportunities and selection of a practice setting in a rural area,
  5. Collaborate in the development of partnerships to address health care professions workforce shortages and policy issues,
  6. Facilitate interdisciplinary health care delivery system development in the region,
  7. Develop widespread partnerships and linkages among public, private, professional, and community groups to promote improved health outcomes in the region,
  8. Improve the levels of health knowledge and behaviors in the community,
  9. Seek funding opportunities to improve health outcomes in the region,
  10. Work toward improving the utilization of existing health care funding and work toward implementation of improved health care delivery system models.

Dental Caucus membership shall be open to actively licensed dentists from the region who are interested in advancement of the health of the public.


Meetings  [back to top]
Dental Caucus planning and activities will be incorporated to the extent possible into the regular meetings and activities of the Eastern Shore Dental Society, Cambridge Dental Study Club, Cecil County Dental Advisory Committee and/or other local dental professional groups so as to maximize the profession's input, involvement, ownership and participation in Dental Caucus activities.
