What is the Interdisciplinary Health Education Committee?

    • The Eastern Shore AHEC Board of Directors shall have an Interdisciplinary Health Education Committee (IHEC) consisting of at least one Board Member to act as Chairperson.
    • The Board shall attempt to identify members representing each and every health discipline.
    • IHEC members may be any interested health professionals, nominated by a local health professional organizational group and/or AHEC Board Member.
    • IHEC members may be re-appointed on an annual basis for an unlimited number of terms, as long as they are committed to the AHEC’s mission and routinely attend the IHEC meetings.
    • IHEC meetings will be held as needed to fulfill responsibilities, as outlined below, and may occur contiguous to the Eastern Shore AHEC meetings.  Notice, voting and other operations shall be consistent with the By-Laws that govern the Eastern Shore AHEC.
    • The IHEC will share reports with Eastern Shore AHEC Board of Directors at regularly scheduled meetings.

    The responsibilities of the IHEC include:

      • Planning, coordinating and evaluating the Annual Meeting and other educational programs as designated by the Board;
      • Supporting local professional health organizations in the planning and logistics of educational programs when requested by various health disciplines;
      • Facilitating credentialing of educational programming and acquisition of continuing education credits from other professional organizations; and
      • Identifying educational activities that promote the mission, vision and strategic planning functions of the Eastern Shore AHEC.
